My poor boy fell and bumped his head on the coffee table. Immediately a goose egg appeared and tears were streaming down. I was so scared to see his forehead swell. I had Tim get ice and a lollipop. I figured if I let Spencer suck on a lollipop I would be able to hold the ice on longer. I called my friend, Elizabeth (she's a registered nurse) and asked for advise. We checked his pupils~they were good, the same size and reacted to light. He appeared fine and about an hour later he went to bed. I checked in on him twice and stirred him to make sure he was OK. I then said prayers that he would be OK and sure enough he woke up at 1am crying. I guess that was God's way of answering my prayers. He still has a little swelling and of course, bruising. A very scary moment for mommy and daddy.

Spring is in the air
We had such a wonderful weekend, spending most of it outside. It was 50 to 60 this past weekend and should get up to 70 tomorrow. Mason wanted to stay outside the whole day. There was no time to stop for lunch or dinner, in his mind. He played basketball, baseball, golf, and Frisbee. Spencer also loves the freedom of the outdoors. He wanted to join in the basketball game and had fun running up and down the sidewalks. Hope you all could get outside and enjoy this beautiful springlike weather.

Parent-Teacher Conference
This morning I had my conference with Mason's teacher. It went very well. I am so very proud of him. I love that he loves school and loves his teachers. The one area that he needs to work on is not interrupting (although he always interrupts with such good manners, he never forgets to say excuse me). Tim and I knew that talking would be his issue. If he has something that he wants to tell you he will say excuse me until you respond. We are working on patiently waiting to be acknowledged before saying excuse me again. His teacher said that he really does have great manners and really enjoys having him in class. I hope his love for school and learning continues on.
And for good measure, here are a few pictures from the past couple of weeks.

Playdate with our friend's the D*s. We haven't been able to get together that often this winter, someone has always been sick. Spencer had fun seeing his buddy, S* and Mason had fun playing with C* and C*.

Random Pictures

The boys loved going to Gymquest with their little buddy, L*. A great way to burn up some winter energy.

Poor Mason had bronchitis and an ear infection. It took weeks to get over everything.

Spencer loves to help and do anything and everything that his big brother does. He is enjoying a chocolate chip cookie by Enjoy Life (a brand that avoids the major allergens).

We loved getting out and playing on the two nice days that we had. If only Spring would come.

Allergies
Back when we first introduced Spencer to formula, we noticed that everytime he drank it he would end up with a rash around his mouth. After a few attempts the doctor said it sounded like a milk allergy and to give him soy. He didn't have any problems with the soy. But after talking to a few different people, I am now concerned with giving him soy. I guess soy has a lot of estrogen in it, not something a little boy or any small child needs. I have yet to introduce other high allergen foods with him not knowing if there is really allergies there. So I asked my doctor what I could do and she suggested that we start with a blood test to verify what foods he may/may not be allergic too. I took Spencer on Monday and finally have the results.
I was sad to see that there was a list of things he was allergic to. Here they are in order from most severe to least severe: peanuts, egg whites, dog/cat dander, soybeans, and milk. I am waiting to hear back from the nurse. She is going to refer us to an allergist. It may be that he can have cheese and yogurt, but she suggested that I switch him to rice milk. I'm going to finish off the soy milk we have b/c he hasn't had problems with it up to this point and then we'll try the rice milk.
I'm hoping that he will outgrow some or all of these. I'm not going to stress too much until I talk to an allergist and see what Spencer's numbers actually are.
