August already

It's hard to believe that it is August already. Where has the summer gone? We enjoyed having Nana and Grandpa up here last week. Mason misses them already and can't wait to see them at Christmas. We also are planning on taking a trip there next April. Can't wait to see their new house and take the boys to the beach. Mason also can't wait to see Sophie (their dog).

Walk for PKD

As some of you may know, last year, Tim was diagnosed with PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease). This disease affects 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million children and adults, worldwide. There is no treatment or cure. The weekend of September 20-21 is the Walk for PKD. If you are interested in helping us raise awareness for this disease, join us for the walk . Here is a link to find a location near you. If you can't join us, you can make a donation online. Even if you just pray for a cure, we would appreciate it. I am just thankful that for now my husband is doing fine. Most likely, the day will come when he will require dialysis and even a kidney transplant. Thank you for your support.

Nana and Granpa's Visit

Nana and Grandpa arrived last Thursday evening from Florida. Mason was so excited to see them. He really misses them now that they live so far away. We have all enjoyed having them. On Saturday night, Tim and I went on a date, the first one in a very long time. It was so nice to know that we were leaving our boys in good hands and we didn't have to worry about them. We went to a nice dinner (a place where you wouldn't take kids) and then to the movies. We saw The Dark Knight. It was good.




On Sunday, we went miniature golfing at Wilderness Falls. I've wanted to take Mason for some time now. He absolutely loved it. We will definitely be going back. I must say that Spencer and I did quite well. We had 4 hole-in-ones. After miniature golfing, we went to Clow's Airport for lunch. Mason loved watching the small planes come in and take off. Spencer hung in there like a trooper, but was all tuckered out by the end of lunch.


We will be sad to see Nana and Grandpa go on Thursday, but will look forward to seeing them again at Christmas.

Spencer's recheck

I forgot to post after Spencer's 6 month check up, so I'll post from his recheck. At Spencer's 6 month check up, he had lost 2 oz from 2 weeks prior and his head circumference jumped to a different growth curve. Also, his doctor heard a click in his right hip. Anyhow, we took him to see a orthopedic doctor on July 3rd and the x-ray they did showed that his hips were perfect, and although there is a little click there is nothing to worry about. Today, I took Spencer back to have his head and weight rechecked and he is also fine in those departments. He went from 17lbs 10oz and 27 1/4in to 19lbs 1oz and 27 1/2in. Also, he is no longer breastfeeding, just taking bottles (with soy formula~he appears to be allergic to milk). He also popped his 7th tooth and I think the 8th is not too far behind. I think that is all of the updates on Spencer. Sorry no pictures today. I don't have time as Nana and Grandpa will be arriving shortly from Florida. I'll try and update with some pictures this weekend or later next week.

Happy 4th of July

What a beautiful day! I don't remember the last time that the weather was so perfect on the 4th. We had a fun day. Our neighbors had a party, so we went over there for a couple of hours before the fireworks. Mason has a lot of fun playing with their little boy (who is only a month younger). They had a bounce house, bean bag toss, corn hole, and of course, a lot of food. It was a good time. Spencer was worn and I came and put him down around 5:45. This worked out great since I would have to wake him to leave for the fireworks around 8:00. Tim and Mason made it back home right before it was time to leave.


We decided to park across the street (along with a large crowd) from where the actual festivities were, so that we could sit in the back of our car. This worked out great. In the past, Mason has not enjoyed the fireworks. He has very sensitive ears and doesn't like really loud noises. This year was really no different, although he enjoyed the fireworks that were off in a distance before the actual show started. The boys didn't make it through the whole show. They were tired, so we left before the finale and beat the traffic. We watched about a dozen shows in the distance on our drive home. Overall, it was a great day. Brookfield Zoo

Monday, we enjoyed spending the day at Brookfield Zoo. Tim took the week off and we wanted to do something fun with the kids. Our neighbor offered her free zoo passes to us so it seemed like the perfect thing to do on such a gorgeous day. Mason had a lot of fun and Spencer did well too.
